Anabela Veloso tends to look into relations and how they shape the social and the political: kinship, friendship, religious communities, identity-belonging and place-based connectedness. The research she has been developing takes subjective figures like the friend, the neighbour, grandmothers and amplifies them into collectivity.
These days, she is focusing on the figure of the friend and decided to partner with others — feeding the investigation into the partnership itself and the possible co-produced work.
She has exhibited and performed in Portugal, Denmark, Sweden, and Austria standing out Kunsthal Charlottenborg (DK), Thorvaldsens Museum (DK) Tanzquartier Wien (AT) and Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art (PT). Veloso is a Portuguese artist currently based in Copenhagen.
